The Prime Minister Attends the Contract Signing Ceremony of the Electric Substation of Al Ain Al Sokhna Plant

Eng. Sherif Ismail, the Prime Minister, witnessed the contract signing ceremony of the electric substation of Al Ain Al Sokhna Plant located in the southern region of the Suez Canal Development Center in the presence of Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation.

Mr. Ahmed Abou Hashima, CEO of Egyptian Steel Group said that the total investment of the Ain Sokhna plant is EGP 5.5 billion. It covers ​​440 thousand square meters and the new electric substation will be executed by Siemens with a total cost of EGP 300 million. He also mentioned that the total production capacity of the plant is 830,000 tons annually of steel rebars.

Mr. Abou Hashima added that by the end of the year the plant will be inaugurated to reach the group’s strategy of having 4 plants in Alexandria, Port Said, Beni Suef and Suez governorates.

The group has adopted a strategy to contribute to the creation of new industrial entities, such as the factories of Ain Sokhna and Beni Suef plants, in parallel with the group’s strategy to re-operate idle resources such as the Alexandria and Port Said plants  to reach the total production capacity of 2.3 million tons yearly.

Ahmed Abu Hashima said that Egyptian Steel has aimed to provide job opportunities ranging from 5 to 6 thousand direct and indirect job opportunities.
